By Brazil Stock Guide – A fire broke out on Sunday (14) at Nestlé (B3: NESTLÉ; SWX: NESN)’s factory in Araras, São Paulo state, prompting five fire brigade trucks to the scene. The company said the blaze was quickly contained and no injuries were reported.

The flames started around 4 p.m. on a wood-chip conveyor located in an external area of the facility, according to the fire department. Smoke was visible from several kilometers away and drew the attention of local residents.

The fire department confirmed the incident was under control later in the afternoon. Nestlé said in a statement that production was not affected, as the plant has backup equipment to keep operations running.

“There were no injuries and no need to evacuate the factory,” the company said. “Teams remain on site to monitor the area and prevent new outbreaks.”

Centenary unit

The Araras plant was inaugurated in 1921 to produce condensed milk. Today, it manufactures items such as instant coffee and chocolate powder. The site is considered strategic for Nestlé’s national supply and is among the city’s largest employers.
