Rumo, acident

By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s railway operator Rumo S.A. (B3: RAIL3) said operations resumed in Araraquara after two locomotives and 14 corn wagons derailed on Thursday when the train collided with a sugarcane truck at a level crossing. The accident disrupted one of the key grain routes in São Paulo state, though no injuries were reported.

The crash dragged the truck for about 200 meters, damaging tracks and spilling corn along the site. The collision occurred near the Aparecidinha neighborhood, close to Estação do Ouro, a stretch that handles agricultural output critical for the region’s logistics. Rumo did not disclose how long traffic was halted, according to Reuters. São Paulo is a hub for sugarcane and grain shipments, feeding the Port of Santos, Latin America’s busiest agricultural export terminal. Disruptions, even short-lived, can ripple through supply chains.
