ANP oil and gas royalties

By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) said on Tuesday (Oct. 29) it distributed royalties from August’s oil and gas production to states, municipalities, and the federal government. The payments cover both concession and transfer-of-rights contracts, reflecting revenue from the country’s expanding energy output.

According to data published on the official Gov.br portal, the distributed funds were calculated based on reported production volumes, average fuel sales prices, and international crude benchmarks. The royalties are financial compensations paid by oil companies such as Petrobras (BVMF:PETR4) for the extraction of natural resources owned by the federal government.

The ANP noted that the allocations vary monthly depending on exchange rate fluctuations, oil prices, and production levels. Major producing states — Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, and São Paulo — remain the largest beneficiaries of the August disbursement.

Royalties represent a crucial source of fiscal revenue for many municipalities dependent on the energy sector. Under Brazilian law, the funds must be invested primarily in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and environmental programs. The ANP said all royalty transfers are transparent and publicly available through its online data portal.
