By Brazil Stock Guide – Embraer SA (ERJ US) has signed a long-term agreement with Virgin Australia to provide a predictive maintenance solution for the airline’s fleet of E2 aircraft, expanding the Brazilian manufacturer’s digital services footprint in the Asia-Pacific region.
Under the deal, Virgin Australia will equip its E2 jets with Embraer’s AHEAD (Aircraft Health Analysis and Diagnosis) system, a platform designed to support data-driven predictive maintenance. The solution uses operational data to help airlines identify and anticipate potential technical issues before they become critical.
The AHEAD platform enables real-time monitoring of multiple aircraft systems, including the auxiliary power unit, fuel, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, avionics, engines, navigation, air conditioning and flight controls. According to Embraer, the system collects data both in flight and on the ground and applies predictive analytics and algorithms to support proactive maintenance strategies.
Embraer said the technology helps airlines reduce unscheduled ground time and improve fleet availability. The company also noted that predictive maintenance can lower operating costs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by avoiding unnecessary fuel consumption linked to maintenance-related inefficiencies.
Virgin Australia has eight firm orders for E2 jets and has already taken delivery of two aircraft. The airline’s E190-E2 fleet is based in Perth and operated by Virgin Australia Regional Airlines, serving regional routes across Australia.
