By Brazil Stock Guide – TIM SA (TIMS3 BZ) said Tuesday (March 3) it has partnered with Huawei Technologies to upgrade its fifth-generation (5G) mobile network in Brazil using artificial intelligence-powered antennas designed to manage heavy data traffic in real time.
The deployment focuses on so-called “smart antennas” capable of analyzing large volumes of network data and issuing preventive alerts before service disruptions occur. The technology is intended to reduce signal congestion in environments with high device density, such as large-scale events.
Through an external AI-based control system, beam patterns — which direct radio signals toward areas of higher demand — are dynamically adjusted minute by minute, reflecting fluctuations in user traffic.
In practical terms, the upgrade is expected to improve downlink performance — the rate at which data is delivered to users — by about 30% during peak traffic periods. Operational efficiency may increase by up to ten times, according to the company.
The initiative covers eight metropolitan regions and represents roughly 30% of TIM’s 5G site base, accounting for approximately 27% of the operator’s total network traffic. The rollout targets areas with the highest data consumption levels to strengthen service reliability under stress conditions.
