By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) officially rejected the appeals made by J&F and UEG Araucárias concerning the results of the recent Capacity Auction. The legal and technical teams at Aneel, alongside the federal prosecutors, expressed their disagreement with the companies’ challenges, effectively ending their efforts to overturn key decisions.

J&F, a major Brazilian conglomerate, had contested the auction’s outcome, requesting the reopening of the bidding phase to negotiate new contracts. The company sought to reverse a decision that barred its participation in the 2027 product of the auction, particularly in the offering of capacity from its Santa Cruz Thermoelectric Plant (UTE Santa Cruz).

J&F argued that the technical qualifications of the plant indicated its eligibility to participate in both the 2026 and 2027 auction products. However, the company’s bid was blocked by the auction system.
