By Brazil Stock Guide – Americanas (B3: AMER3) and iFood announced a strategic partnership on Monday that integrates the retailer directly into the country’s largest delivery ecosystem, expanding on-demand access to everyday consumer goods across Brazil. The rollout begins with 500 Americanas stores in 15 states and is expected to reach 1,200 locations by early 2026.
The agreement positions Americanas within iFood’s “market” and “convenience” categories, giving the platform’s more than 60 million users instant access to a broad assortment of products. The offering spans food, beverages, candy, baby care, hygiene and beauty items, as well as stationery, mobile accessories and apparel — areas where immediacy increasingly drives purchasing decisions in urban retail.
“We structured a customer-centric business strategy that serves consumers wherever they are, with an omnichannel vision that further expands our presence,” said Tiago Abate, vice president for Customers, Growth and Digital at Americanas. “The partnership with iFood expands our reach and brings greater delivery agility through our physical stores, creating value for our customers.”
For iFood, the alliance reinforces its ambition to move beyond restaurant delivery and consolidate its position as a full-scale convenience marketplace. “Having a partner the size of Americanas on our app reinforces that we are much more than a food delivery platform,” said Murilo Massari, commercial director for Market and Wholesale at iFood. “We are a complete convenience marketplace that delivers what consumers want with the speed they need.”
Americanas operates nearly 1,500 stores nationwide and is executing a broader multichannel recovery strategy after recent financial restructuring. The integration with iFood strengthens last-mile logistics using the retailer’s dense physical footprint as urban micro-distribution hubs — a model increasingly adopted by global retailers to defend market share against pure-play e-commerce.
Founded 14 years ago, iFood processes roughly 160 million orders per month and connects more than 60 million users, 450,000 couriers and 460,000 merchants across nearly 1,500 Brazilian cities. The company says its platform supports over one million direct and indirect jobs and contributes an estimated 0.64% to Brazil’s GDP through its so-called “iFood Effect.”
