By Brazil Stock Guide — Stellantis N.V. (NYSE: STLA), the world’s fourth-largest automaker, announced on Monday the appointment of João Laranjo as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. The Brazilian executive succeeds Doug Ostermann, who resigned for personal reasons.
The move elevates Laranjo to the Stellantis Leadership Team, making him the first Brazilian to hold the company’s top finance post — a symbolic milestone in the global auto industry, traditionally dominated by American, Italian and French executives.
Laranjo, who began his career at General Electric in 2001, joined Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) in 2009 as Chief Accounting Officer for Latin America. Over the following years, he rose through financial controlling, reporting, P&L management and compliance, eventually becoming CFO of FCA/Stellantis North America in 2017.
After a stint at Goodyear in 2024, where he led the Americas Finance division, Laranjo rejoined Stellantis earlier this year, once again as CFO for North America, before being tapped for the global role.
“Having worked closely with João for 15 years and witnessed his rise through the ranks, I have consistently been impressed by his excellent financial acumen, results-driven mindset, and deep understanding of our industry’s complexities,” said Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa in a statement.
