By Brazil Stock Guide – Mining juniors expanding Brazil’s footprint in critical minerals have created a new national trade group to strengthen industry coordination as global demand accelerates. The Association of Critical Minerals (AMC) was launched on Monday (24).
The organization brings together companies operating across the supply chain — from exploration and mining to processing and technology development — with a focus on lithium, nickel, rare earths, graphite and copper, according to Agência iNFRA. These minerals are essential for electric-vehicle batteries, renewable-energy equipment and other decarbonization technologies.
Marisa Cesar, corporate affairs and sustainability director at Australia-based Pilbara Lithium Solutions (PLS.AX), will chair the AMC board. She said the group was created to “organize and strengthen” a fast-growing segment that requires cohesive technical and institutional support.
Marcelo Carvalho, executive director of Meteoric Resources (MEI.AX) in Brazil, will serve as vice-chair. He said the initiative is designed to integrate into the broader mining ecosystem rather than compete with established institutions such as Brazil’s mining lobby Ibram. “The AMC emerges to complement the work already very well executed by other representative entities,” he said, adding that its goal is to fill structural gaps affecting smaller players and improve dialogue with government agencies, investors and global partners.
Founding members include A Clara, Atlantic Nickel, Centaurus Metals (CTM.AX), Graphcoa, Graph+, Meteoric, PLS, Viridis and Lithium Ionic (LTH.V). The group also receives legal backing from Frederico Bedran Advogados. Mining lawyer Frederico Bedran, appointed AMC’s executive director, said the association intends to unify the sector and raise the quality of national debate. “Our commitment is to build a structured technical forum that helps overcome historical bottlenecks and fosters a more investment-friendly environment,” he said.
