By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazilian laboratory network Sabin increased production capacity by 26% after investing 90 million reais in automated systems and robotics at its technical operations hub, as the company modernized a 12,000-square-meter laboratory complex with equipment supplied by Roche Diagnostics, part of Roche Holding AG (ROG SW; RHHBY US).
The investment expanded the site’s ability to process diagnostic tests without increasing its physical footprint. Consolidated figures presented by the companies showed that the new systems raised the density of tests performed per square meter by 43.7%, allowing the facility to absorb additional demand within the same operational space.
The modernization also improved labor productivity. Output per employee rose 7.6% during the period, reflecting a higher number of tests processed during the same operating shift. The gain was driven by automation in the triage stage, with no increase in the working hours of the technical area.
The project underscores the role of automation and robotics in high-volume diagnostic operations, where scale, throughput and space efficiency are central to performance. For Sabin, the upgraded technical operations hub gives the company additional processing capacity while keeping the same installed physical base.
The use of Roche Diagnostics equipment links the productivity gains to a broader shift in clinical laboratories toward automated workflows, particularly in areas that depend on speed, standardization and continuous processing of medical tests.
