By Brazil Stock Guide – The Swedish government has signed a contract to acquire four C-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft from Embraer (NYSE: ERJ, B3: EMBR3) under a joint European procurement program with the Netherlands and Austria, both NATO members. The agreement also includes seven additional purchase options, paving the way for future acquisitions by other allied forcesembraer.
The signing ceremony took place at Uppsala Air Base, attended by Sweden’s Defense Minister Pål Jonson, Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Jonas Wikman, and representatives from other C-390 operators including Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.
With this deal, Sweden joins a growing bloc of NATO nations aligning around the Brazilian-built transport, bringing total European orders to 13 aircraft since 2024.
“This acquisition marks a major step in modernizing and strengthening the Swedish Air Force. The C-390 will boost our operational efficiency and interoperability with European partners,” said Defense Minister Pål Jonson.

Since entering service with the Brazilian Air Force in 2019, the C-390 Millennium has achieved a 93% mission availability rate and over 99% mission completion. Capable of carrying 26 metric tons at speeds of 470 knots, the aircraft performs missions ranging from troop and cargo transport to medical evacuation, firefighting, and aerial refueling.
