VLI ships first corn cargo to China via Espírito Santo

By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazilian logistics company VLI Logística S.A. completed its first corn shipment to China via the state of Espírito Santo, marking a significant step in the diversification of Brazil’s grain export routes. The cargo, totaling 75,500 metric tons, departed last week from the Terminal de Produtos Diversos (TPD) at Tubarão Port in Vitória.

According to Broadcast News Agency, the grain originated from the Araguari Integrated Terminal in Minas Gerais, part of VLI’s multimodal system that connects rail and port infrastructure across key agricultural regions. The milestone follows the terminal’s certification in February 2025 to handle exports to China, the world’s largest corn importer.

The operation underscores VLI’s effort to expand Brazil’s logistics capabilities beyond traditional ports like Santos and Paranaguá, easing bottlenecks and cutting transport times for exporters. The use of Tubarão Port — historically focused on iron ore shipments operated by Vale S.A. (VALE3.SA) — highlights the growing versatility of Brazil’s port network amid increasing global demand for agricultural commodities.
